Kevin Gaytan graduated from San Jose State University in 2018 with a double major in Sociology and a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He has worked and trained under the instruction of Bay Area choreographers and lecturers such as Dominique Lomuljo, Jill Yager, and Heather Cooper. 

Kevin's training encompasses various dance forms, including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and classical modern dance. He has studied the Limon technique with Raphael Boumaila and Graham-based technique with Janine Winston at San Jose State University. 

Mr. Gaytan’s performance highlights include the honor of performing in classical Jose Limon works such as Psalm and Misa Brevis. As well as being a part of a choreography-in-residence program with companies such as Doug Varone and Dancers, in Doug Varone’s In the Shelter of the Fold in 2018. As well as with BARE Dance Company, in Mike Esperanza’s Flicker / Fade in 2017. Mr. Gaytan is also an active member of the company sjDANCEco, directed by Maria Basile.

Mr Gaytan has also studied the art of choreography and composition extensively under the instruction and mentorship of Professor Fred Mathews. Kevin is an emerging choreographer who creates movement informed by multicultural sociopolitical resistance. Movement dedicated to the liberation, empowerment, and decolonization of communities of color.  Kevin graduated from San Jose State in 2018 as the Outstanding Graduating Dance Senior in Choreography. As a choreographer, he has had the privilege of presenting work at the American Dance Conference, in the adjudicated dance concert series, as well as The American Dance Festival (ADF) in 2016
